Safety is Leviat’s top priority – supporting the sites SAFETY performance through good site SAFETY engagement, completing SWOPS and SIPs, in-line with plant direction and expectations. To undertake structured plant engineering projects, assigned by the Senior Engineer; ensuring projects are completed on-time and to budget. Providing engineer support to all elements of the Sheffield plant, to improve safety and productivity. Engaging with the site’s SQDCIP process and DCI identified improvement projects and activities.


Key responsibilities of this position:

  • Robotic and automation support to production supporting process improvement and optimisation.

  • Robotic and automation support to production supporting breakdowns and unplanned non-productive time.

  • Health and safety improvements to existing processes where identified actions are required.

  • Project management of new asset / machinery introduction. Coordination of projects through Capex preparation, supplier negotiations and specifications, commissioning and volume ramp-ups.

  • Cost reduction projects / tasks connected to the site cost reduction matrix where savings are identified and committed to.

  • Provide engineering support and problem solving expertise to ensure customer orders are delivered on time to appropriate standards of quality.

  • Constantly review ways to improve production productivity and eliminate NVA activities via LEAN and 6 SIGMA principles.

  • Initiate CAPEX proposals from concept, through feasibility to implementation.

  • Lead, participate in and promote continuous improvement through application of 6 SIGMA, 5s, SMED and LEAN principles within the facility.

  • Provide coaching and mentoring to production staff to ensure individuals/teams reach suitable competence.

  • Leading LEAN manufacturing projects to reduce waste and increase productivity.

  • Ensure compliance with all personal obligations under H&S legislation and adhere to company H&S policies and procedures whilst working within and striving to improve the CRH lifesaving rules.

  • Conduct safety audits, risk assessments and safety tours as and when required.

  • Resolve EHS, technical and QA issues.

  • Purchase equipment, tooling and consumables where appropriate managing within a project and departmental budgets.

Health and Safety

  • Ensure compliance with all personal obligations under Health & Safety legislation and to adhere to Company H&S policies and procedures, whilst working within and striving to improve the Safety Audit.

  • Abide by site H&S policies, procedures, safe working practises, rules, regulations and instructions, with special consideration for safe systems of work and practices.

  • Report any incident or any unsafe situation immediately to the first line supervisor or site manager.

  • Maintain a clean and tidy workplace.
