We are currently seeking a Data Support Specialist to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will play a critical part in supporting our data operations and ensuring seamless access to accurate, high-quality information across the business. You will be responsible for managing incoming data requests via our service desk, delivering timely and precise responses to internal stakeholders.
Responsibilities
• Manage incoming data requests via the service desk, providing accurate and timely responses to stakeholders across the business.
• Design, write, and maintain SQL scripts, stored procedures, and functions to support web applications and reporting needs.
• Develop and optimise complex queries for performance, scalability, and reliability.
• Troubleshoot and resolve database related issues and queries.
• Assist with database design and schema management to support new products and features.
• Contribute to internal documentation of database architecture and processes.
• Work closely with engineering teams to ensure data availability and consistency.
• Identify opportunities to automate manual data processes and improve reporting efficiency.
• Ensure adherence to best practices in SQL development and database standards.
Skills Required
• Solid understanding of relational databases.
• Strong SQL skills.
• Proficient with data visualisation or reporting tools (e.g. Looker Studio, Power BI).
• Excellent attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy and quality.
• Strong problem solving and analytical skills.
• Comfortable working with large datasets and interpreting complex data structures.
• Able to explain technical data concepts to non-technical audiences.
• Understanding of data privacy, governance, and security practices.
Nice to have
• Experience working with SQL Server / SSMS.
• Experience with SQL performance monitoring tools.
• Familiarity with Jira or similar ticketing systems.
• Knowledge of data warehousing tools and cloud platforms (e.g., BigQuery, Amazon Redshift).
• Comfortable with source control tools (e.g., Git) and code deployment workflows.
• Experience working in Agile development environments.
