Sheffield Forgemasters is an iconic steel production and engineering company. A global leader in the designing, manufacturing and delivering of world-class steel forgings and castings.


It is a great time to join Forgemasters, as the business goes through an ongoing period of growth and modernisation after being acquired by the UK Ministry of Defence In 2021. The acquisition has secured our role as a critical supplier to the next generation of UK defence programmes. As part of this programme of work our plant and equipment will be modernised over the next 10 years, creating new opportunities for the business and our colleagues.


Based at our 64-acre site, sitting in the heart of Sheffield, we are looking for an experienced Project Manager. This role will involve managing and delivering short to medium term projects, up to £70m in annual revenue.


Role Responsibilities


  • Promote the use of standard project governance and methodology.


  • Produce project plans and ensure regular reporting.


  • Support engagement and commitment across the team to drive through deliverables and objectives, ensuring on-schedule delivery.


  • Plan and manage project budgets.


  • Communicate regular project updates internally and to customers.


  • Manage issues and risks proactively to minimise adverse impact on time, cost and quality.


  • Contribute to pre-contract reviews to ensure risks and issues are identified and mitigated from the start. 


  • Ensure live / current data is available to be factored in to any decision making. 


About You


The following relevant skills, knowledge and experience are required.


  • Project management experience is essential. 


  • Prince 2 certified or equivalent.


  • Previous experience working in Engineering, manufacturing or steel industries is an advantage, but not essential.


  • Data analysis skills. 


  • Working knowledge of project management software tools.


  • Strong customer relationship and interpersonal skills.


  • Ability to define and manage risk governance process and reviews.​


  • Supports initiation of projects, planning, delegating, managing and risk mitigating.


  • Experience of working with customers and suppliers through complex and technical issues whilst managing difficult risks, cost and timeline issues.


  • Experience contributing to project budgets and subsequent control mechanisms.


  • Experience of managing to KPI’s and establishing project control mechanisms. 


Days/Hours of Work


37.5 hours per week, Monday – Friday, with flexible start and finish time between 06:15 - 09:30 and 14:30 – 18:00
