Installation Engineer – Commercial Kitchen & Catering Equipment – Field-Based – £38K-£40K+ DOE

The Opportunity

Our client, a growing specialist in commercial kitchen and catering installations, is looking for a multi-skilled Installation Engineer to join their team. Based out of Sheffield, this is a field-based position working on a variety of commercial projects across the Midlands and South of England, with all travel paid from home. You’ll be responsible for installing, wiring, and commissioning equipment at client sites, with the flexibility to carry out occasional servicing and maintenance when required.

What You’ll Be Doing

• 
  

  Installing and commissioning commercial equipment at client sites

  
  


• 
  

  Fitting and connecting gas and electrical appliances, ensuring safe and compliant installations

  
  


• 
  

  Wiring appliances to isolators, connecting sockets, switches, and carrying out basic rewiring if required

  
  


• 
  

  Reading and working from electrical schematics, layout drawings, and installation plans

  
  


• 
  

  Working with extraction systems, cooking equipment, refrigeration units, dishwashers, etc.

  
  


• 
  

  Supporting the servicing and maintenance of client systems, including repairs and emergency call-outs (if required)

  
  


• 
  

  Liaising with site managers, contractors, and clients to ensure smooth installs and handovers

  
  


• 
  

  Completing paperwork and project reports one day per week at the Sheffield office

  
  


• 
  

  Maintaining a clean, safe, and organised work environment, ensuring all health and safety regulations are followed

  
  

Working Hours

• 
  

  Monday to Friday – Start times vary depending on site/project

  
  


• 
  

  Field-based – travel paid from home

  
  


• 
  

  One day per week based in Sheffield for administrative duties

  
  


• 
  

  Occasional weekend work (rare) paid at time and a half

What You’ll Need

• 
  

  Experience installing commercial kitchen or catering equipment

  
  


• 
  

  Gas Safe Registered – current and in-date

  
  


• 
  

  Part P qualified or equivalent in electrical installation

  
  


• 
  

  Confident in connecting electrical appliances to isolators and conducting basic rewires

  
  


• 
  

  Ability to read and interpret technical and electrical drawings

  
  


• 
  

  Full UK driving licence (essential)

  
  


• 
  

  Strong fault-finding skills and a proactive, problem-solving mindset

  
  


• 
  

  Positive attitude, reliability, and the ability to work well both independently and as part of a team

  
  


• 
  

  Experience with servicing and maintenance of commercial kitchen equipment (advantageous)
