This is an exciting opportunity to lead a thriving consultancy, Wildscapes CIC, which is part of Sheffield & Rotherham Wildlife Trust. Delivering land and water management, ecological services and BNG. We are looking to recruit a Senior manager or Senior leader dependent on experience to lead the Consultancy.
The consultancy's turnover and profitability has considerably grown in recent years and there is the potential to build on this further through the existing pipeline and framework agreements as well as some exciting opportunities in development.
We are seeking someone to help us take these exciting opportunities forward and develop them into new products and services. With substantial experience in business development, you will have a demonstrable track record of delivering business growth, ideally in the conservation or environmental sector. This role will help set the strategic direction for the consultancy. You will be entrepreneurial and highly motivated with excellent financial and business acumen.
The consultancy works across the country with a regional focus, delivering contracts both through Sheffield and Rotherham Wildlife Trust and the subsidiary 'Wildscapes Community Interest Company' (CIC). All staff are employed by the Trust. This role will report to the CEO of the Trust.

Purpose of Role:
To lead the Wildscapes Consultancy as a successful social enterprise delivering professional ecological, land management and nature-based solutions for businesses, people and wildlife in support of Sheffield & Rotherham Wildlife Trust’s (SRWT) strategy.
Work with the SRWT CEO and Wildscapes Board/Sub-Committee to grow the social enterprise, developing and delivering business plans and financial targets.
This post will be fully responsible for all Wildscapes’ operations, including adherence to HR, Health & Safety, Data Protection and Environmental best practice, in accordance with the Trust’s own policies and procedures.
The Role:
The Wildscapes Consultancy Manager has full responsibility for the business development, management and oversight of the Consultancy’s operations. This includes managing a team of between 11-50 people and a turnover of over £1 million, yielding a significant profit margin that is returned to the Trust as part of our financial sustainability model. They will have substantial personal autonomy and are expected to show leadership in their role.
The business is based at Sheffield & Rotherham Wildlife Trust’s offices in Sheffield, but activity takes place regionally and increasingly nationally.
Managing the consultancy requires leadership, motivation and the ability to manage multiple priorities across a range of often complex technical areas e.g. ecology, conservation, construction. The ability to respond quickly to changing situations and opportunities is a key part of the role, including supporting staff to resolve problems on site as they arise.
The manager is responsible for planning, monitoring and controlling the budget for the consultancy. They are expected to develop the annual budget and longer-term forecasts in collaboration with their line manager and the Wildscapes Sub-Committee/CIC Board.
The manager also reports to the Wildscapes Sub-Committee/CIC Board of Directors which is composed of 2 independent Directors, 2 Trustees and the Trust CEO.
