Pay up to £45,081, plus 28.9% employer pension contributions, hybrid working with 60% home working, flexible hours, and great work life balance.

As a Senior QA Tester, you'll have the chance to influence the tools we use, driving quality across teams and shaping how we test. It's a hands-on role where you'll build test solutions make a real impact on our solution designs.

DWP. Digital with Purpose.

DWP is the UK's largest government department. We help people into work, and make payments worth over £195bn a year to support some of the most vulnerable people in our society.

We are looking for a Senior QA Tester to join our community of tech experts in DWP Digital. We're driving a once-in-a-generation transformation of government services.

We're using fresh ideas and leading-edge technologies to build and maintain innovative, scalable and user-centric digital solutions that will be used by nearly every person in the UK, at key moments in their lives.

The scale of what we do is extraordinary, and our purpose is unique. We'd love you to join us.

What skills, knowledge and experience will you need?

  • You're proactive and can figure out what needs to be done, plan how to do it, and get it done without needing much direction.
  • You've got experience creating test plans and strategies based on different types of requirements, whether they're about how something should work or how it should perform.
  • You know how to manage the delivery of system and acceptance testing, making sure both the functional and non-functional parts are covered.
  • You're confident using performance testing tools to build and run different types of tests, like load, stress, or endurance, to see how systems hold up under pressure.

Delivery. Work. Projects.

As a Senior QA Tester, you'll make sure our products are reliable, stable, and built to last.

You'll take a thoughtful, risk-based approach to testing - deciding what needs to be tested, how deep to go, and where to focus to get the best results.

You'll be hands-on with both manual and automated testing, using industry-standard tools and techniques to build smart, effective test solutions. You'll help shape how we work, sharing best practices, spotting opportunities to improve, and encouraging consistency across teams.

You'll work closely with other testers, software engineers, and DevOps specialists to plan and run both functional and non-functional tests.

You'll also be someone who's not afraid to challenge the status quo. Whether it's suggesting new tools, refining processes, or helping us work smarter, you'll be a voice for continuous improvement.

And you'll support others along the way. You'll coach and mentor junior team members, helping them grow their skills and confidence, and contributing to a culture of learning and knowledge sharing.

Details. Wages. Perks.

You'll join us in one of our brilliant digital hubs in Birmingham, Blackpool, Leeds, Manchester, Newcastle or Sheffield, whichever is most convenient for you.

We also have all the tools and tech we need to enable our people to work and collaborate flexibly. We work a hybrid model - you'll be in the office about 40% of the time, and 60% home working.

We offer competitive pay of up to £45,081.

You'll also get a brilliant civil service pension with employer contributions worth over 28.9%, and a generous leave package starting at 26 days.

You can also take up to 3 extra days off a month on flexi-time.

We have a broad benefits package built around your work-life balance which includes:

  • An award-winning environment and culture: Employer of the Year 2023 (Women In IT Awards), Founders Award for Outstanding Digital Leadership 2023 (Digital 100)
  • Flexible working including flexible hours and family-friendly policies
  • Time off volunteering and charitable giving
  • Bring your authentic self to work with 'I Can Be Me in DWP'
  • Discounts and savings on shopping, fun days out and more
  • Interest-free loans to buy a bike or a season ticket, so it's even easier for you to get to work and start making a difference
  • Sports and social activities
  • Professional development, coaching, mentoring and career progression opportunities.
