Role Overview

The Programme Delivery team delivers Tes Institute’s Teacher Training, Teaching Assistant Training and Professional Development programmes across the UK and internationally, both online and in-person.

The Head of Programme Delivery – iQTS holds strategic and operational responsibility for programme intent and implementation. Reporting to the Director of Programme Delivery, the role works in close collaboration with central Academic Services and the wider Tes team.

You will bring a strong understanding of teacher training and development routes and apply your expertise to lead and deliver an outstanding experience for learners on the iQTS programme. Supported by the Central Academic Services team and working collaboratively with fellow Heads and Managers of Programme Delivery, you will ensure the delivery meets the highest standards and supports the wider aims of the Institute.

You will champion Tes’ organisational values, model high expectations for teacher training quality, and continue to develop and innovate the academic delivery of the iQTS programme. This role requires both leadership and accountability, ensuring teams and learners are empowered with the right support to promote learner progress, lifelong learning, and a meaningful impact on the communities we serve.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead strategic and operational delivery of teacher training and development within the iQTS programme.
  • Manage Programme Delivery Managers (where applicable), focusing on quality, compliance, and learner outcomes.
  • Allocate resources and team members effectively, including Pathway Tutors, to ensure high-quality programme delivery.
  • Ensure fidelity to programme intent and drive continuous improvement in delivery.
  • Lead on quality assurance activities and use outcomes to inform training, delivery enhancements, and team development.
  • Ensure programme governance, statutory compliance, and preparedness for inspections and external reporting.
  • Represent the programme externally with key stakeholders such as the DfE and other delivery partners.
  • Own responsibility for trainee progress, engagement, satisfaction, and successful completion.
  • Oversee Pathway Tutors with Programme Manager support where required.
  • Ensure consistent delivery of the programme across all delivery contexts.
  • Collaborate with the Academic Services team to integrate their expertise into delivery.
  • Work with Tes functions (Sales, Marketing, Compliance, etc.) to ensure strong, compliant operational delivery.
  • Support recruitment efforts and explore opportunities for growth.
  • Report programme outcomes, including retention and engagement, to the Director of Programme Delivery.

What will you need to succeed?

  • Proven experience delivering and managing teacher training and development programmes (Required)
  • Strong understanding of ITTECF reforms and other developments in teacher education (Required)
  • Knowledge of routes into teaching and professional development post-ITT (Required)
  • Experience leading through external inspections (e.g., Ofsted) (Desirable)
  • Understanding of the international school sector (Desirable)
  • Demonstrated experience managing and developing teams, including coaching and influencing (Desirable)
  • Commercial awareness with a solutions-focused mindset (Required)
  • Proactive, innovative, and able to collaborate across disciplines (Required)
  • Teaching qualification (QTS or equivalent) (Required)
  • NPQLTD, NPQH, NPQEL, or relevant Master's/PhD qualification (Desirable)
  • Experience managing educational programme delivery in a blended environment (Required)
  • High emotional intelligence and people-focused leadership (Required)
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills (Required)
