Production Controller

Location: South Yorkshire / Sheffield area

Salary: £28,000 - £30,800 DOE

An established manufacturing business is seeking an experienced Production Controller to join its Operations team. This is a pivotal role focused on production performance, schedule adherence, and data-driven decision-making within a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring production plans are achieved, operational risks are identified early, and accurate reporting supports effective operational control.

Key Responsibilities

• Monitor and control production performance using ERP/MES systems
• Produce daily production reports and dashboards (adherence to plan, productivity, delays)
• Support daily production and operational review meetings with accurate and timely data
• Identify and escalate production risks, including material shortages, bottlenecks, and capacity constraints
• Coordinate and update daily and weekly production schedules in response to real-time conditions
• Escalate issues to management with clear impact analysis and recommendations
• Work closely with Production, Stores, Procurement, Quality, Maintenance, and Finance teams
• Control and manage Work in Progress (WIP) levels
• Act as the Operations ERP “Super User”, ensuring data integrity and governance
• Analyse performance trends and support continuous improvement initiatives to optimise flow and reduce waste

Skills, Experience & Knowledge

• Experience using ERP/MES systems in a manufacturing or production environment
• Previous experience in production control, planning, or scheduling
• Strong data analysis skills with experience building reports and dashboards
• Advanced Excel skills and working knowledge of Power BI and/or SQL
• Understanding of Bills of Materials (BOMs) and routings
• Strong analytical, organisational, and problem-solving skills
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate cross-functionally
• Proactive, self-motivated, and able to work independently
• Experience within aerospace or a similarly regulated manufacturing environment
• Highly organised and detail-focused
• Reliable, conscientious, and consistent in delivery
• Confident communicator with a collaborative approach
• Flexible and adaptable with a positive, can-do attitude
• Strong work ethic and commitment to continuous improvement
