Scrannery is looking for a strong Chef / Kitchen Assistant to join the team at Discovery — our café, hospitality, and events venue in Sheffield city centre.

We’re looking for somebody reliable, organised, calm under pressure, and genuinely proud of standards.

This is a hands-on role in a fast-moving kitchen covering brunch, lunch, café service, hospitality, and events. You’ll work closely with the wider team to deliver consistently good food and keep the kitchen operating cleanly, safely, and efficiently.

The role includes:

• Food preparation and service
• Managing prep and kitchen organisation
• Maintaining food safety and hygiene standards
• Supporting menu delivery and service consistency
• Stock rotation and waste control
• Supporting wider kitchen operations during busy periods
• Helping deliver hospitality and event catering

What we’re looking for:

• Previous experience in a commercial kitchen
• Good understanding of food hygiene and allergen management
• Ability to work efficiently during busy service periods
• Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
• A positive attitude and team-focused approach
• Somebody proactive who sees what needs doing without waiting to be asked
