Python Developer (FastAPI & GenAI) - AI/ML Platform in Sheffield

We're partnering with an innovative AI/ML scale-up in Sheffield that is transforming how businesses use AI to automate processes, unlock insights, and drive better decision-making.

Following continued growth, they're looking for a Python Developer to join their engineering team and play a key role in building the backend systems and APIs that power their AI-driven products.

This is an opportunity to work in a fast-paced environment where you'll have real influence on product development, architecture, and the adoption of emerging AI technologies. The engineering team actively embraces AI-assisted development, using tools such as GitHub Copilot, Claude, and modern LLM platforms to accelerate delivery and improve developer productivity.

What you'll be doing:

• Developing scalable backend services using Python and FastAPI
• Designing and building REST APIs and microservices
• Working with cloud infrastructure and modern deployment pipelines
• Collaborating with AI/ML engineers to integrate LLM and GenAI capabilities into production applications
• Contributing to architecture, performance, and engineering best practices

What we're looking for:

• Strong commercial Python development experience
• Experience with FastAPI (or similar modern Python frameworks)
• Solid understanding of API design and backend architecture
• Experience with AWS, Azure, or GCP
• Familiarity with Docker and CI/CD pipelines
• Exposure to GenAI, LLMs, RAG, LangChain, Claude, GitHub Copilot, or related technologies would be highly beneficial
• A genuine interest in how AI can enhance software development and engineering workflows
