Role: Clinical Negligence Legal Assistant
Location: Sheffield, South Yorkshire
Salary: £26,000 - £28,000
Contract: Full time, permanent
Our client is seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Paralegal to support fee earners, solicitors, and partners across a varied caseload. This is a hands-on role requiring strong organisational skills, excellent client communication, and the ability to manage matters from initial instruction through to file closure. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring the smooth running of files, maintaining high professional standards, and contributing to the continued success and reputation of the firm.
Provide comprehensive support to fee earners, solicitors, and partners across a range of matters.
Manage files from initial client instruction through to completion and archiving, ensuring full compliance with office and accounts procedures.
Draft, prepare, and organise all relevant file documentation.
Liaise professionally with clients, counsel, experts, and other third parties as required.
Attend conferences and meetings, producing accurate contemporaneous notes.
Work closely with the Accounts team to arrange disbursements and assist with billing processes.
Compile and prepare electronic bundles for court and client use.
Maintain accurate diaries, coordinate appointments, and monitor key deadlines.
Keep legal knowledge up to date through continuous professional development.
Contribute to the firm's business development initiatives where appropriate.
Ability to work effectively under pressure, prioritising competing demands and meeting strict deadlines.
Capable of working independently while also contributing positively within a team environment.
Professional, client-focused approach with the ability to handle enquiries efficiently.
Strong and accurate typing skills with excellent attention to detail.
Proficient in Microsoft Windows, Word, Microsoft Teams, PDF software, and Excel.
Previous experience as a Paralegal or in a similar role with direct client contact.
Flexible, proactive, and solution-driven approach.
Excellent written English, with the ability to produce high-quality documents for clients, courts, and third parties.
Confident and articulate spoken English, particularly when handling telephone enquiries.
Reliable attendance record (or satisfactory explanation for any significant absence).- Ability to represent and promote the firm professionally and positively.
