Tradewind Recruitment are currently recruiting on behalf of a specialist SEN school in Sheffield for a dedicated and resilient Behaviour Support Assistant to join their team. This is a fantastic opportunity to make a genuine difference in the lives of children and young people with complex additional needs while working within a highly supportive educational environment.
The school is part of a well-established Multi-Academy Trust, offering excellent support, professional development opportunities and the potential to work across other schools within the Trust where required. This provides candidates with the opportunity to broaden their experience while remaining within the same organisation.
About the RoleYou will support children and young people with a range of additional needs including:
- Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)
- ADHD
- Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD)
- Communication needs, including supporting non-verbal pupils
- Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs
- Behavioural needs
Some pupils may display behaviours that challenge, including verbal aggression, physical aggression, self-injurious behaviours and periods of emotional dysregulation. You'll receive ongoing guidance and support from an experienced team to ensure pupils are supported safely, consistently and positively.
Key Responsibilities- Provide 1:1 and small group support to pupils throughout the school day.
- Build positive, trusting and professional relationships with students.
- Support pupils to regulate their emotions using agreed behaviour strategies.
- Assist with classroom learning, communication and life skills.
- Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists and senior leaders.
- Help maintain a safe, inclusive and supportive learning environment.
- Where required, support other schools within the Trust in line with operational needs.
- Calm under pressure.
- Patient, resilient and empathetic.
- Confident managing challenging situations.
- Passionate about supporting children and young people with additional needs.
- Able to build strong professional relationships with pupils and colleagues.
- Flexible and adaptable to the needs of the school.
Previous experience within education is welcomed but is not essential. We also encourage applications from candidates with backgrounds in:

Pay InformationDaily pay for this role ranges from £95 to £120 per day.
The rate offered will be determined by several factors, including:
- Relevant skills and previous experience.
- Availability to work on a full-time basis.
- The specific requirements and responsibilities of the school.
Candidates who are available full-time, demonstrate relevant experience and closely match the school's requirements will typically be considered for the higher end of the pay scale.
