A leading provider of highways and infrastructure services is seeking an experienced Highways Inspector to join their team in Sheffield. Working across a key highway maintenance contract, you will play an important role in ensuring the safety, compliance and condition of the local road network.


Your new role

As a Highways Inspector, you will be responsible for inspecting the highway network, identifying defects and managing maintenance works from initial survey through to successful completion.


You will carry out routine and reactive inspections across carriageways, footways and associated highway assets, assessing defects and determining appropriate remedial actions. In addition to identifying and reporting defects, you will scope, plan and coordinate maintenance and patching activities, ensuring works are delivered safely, efficiently and in line with contractual requirements.


Working closely with operational teams and subcontractors, you will oversee the delivery of works, monitor progress on site and ensure repairs are completed to the required quality standards. You will also maintain accurate inspection records, produce detailed reports and contribute to the effective management of the highway network.


What you'll need to succeed


  • Current CSCS Card.
  • Current NRSWA Street Works Qualification/Card.
  • Previous experience in highway maintenance, street work or highway inspections.
  • Strong understanding of carriageway maintenance, patching, reinstatement and defect identification.
  • Experience planning, coordinating and managing maintenance works programmes.
  • Ability to assess defects and determine appropriate repair solutions.
  • Experience working within a highway contractor, surfacing contractor, utilities or local authority environment.
  • Strong communication, organisational and reporting skills.
  • Full UK driving licence.


Candidates with experience as a Highways Inspector, Network Inspector, Street Works Inspector, Highways Supervisor or similar highways maintenance professional are encouraged to apply.
