Senior Project Officer

Join Sheffield City Council at a pivotal time as we aim to make a significant impact on the lives of adults and young people across Sheffield. We are seeking a Senior Project Officer in Business Development to generate employment and workforce development opportunities through strategic engagement with both existing and new employer contacts.

Day-to-day of the role:

• Keep updated on local labour market news and trends to identify new employment opportunities and workforce skills gaps.
• Maintain and develop strong relationships with employers around employment and skills.
• Attend regular network events for employers and external partners to generate business leads.
• Support the continuous improvement of employment projects by providing updates to senior colleagues and ensuring effective service delivery.
• Work collaboratively with internal and external partners to build relationships and promote inclusive and alternative recruitment processes.
• Plan and organise workload efficiently, monitoring service delivery to ensure resources are used to maximum efficiency.
• Alongside the Strategic Support Coordinator, innovate ways to support or respond to employer needs in workforce development or recruitment.
• Identify potential risks and opportunities within the service, initiating solutions and providing advice and support.
• Take responsibility for the development of systems and processes across the Employment Programmes, keeping the Employment and Skills service informed of progress through reports and presentations.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

• Proven knowledge and understanding of externally funded programmes and business relationship management.
• Demonstrated track record of generating impactful employer/business relationships.
• Solid understanding of employment, economic inclusion, and skills programmes.
• Ability to effectively and efficiently plan and organise own workload.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills, capable of working with a variety of internal and external stakeholders.
• Innovative and forward-thinking, with a flexible approach to work.
