We are seeking a dedicated Support Worker Fieldwork to join our team. This role involves working alongside social workers to assess the needs of children, young people, and their families, and to identify and implement supportive plans and services. This position requires a compassionate individual who is ready to make a significant impact in the lives of vulnerable groups.
Day-to-Day Responsibilities:- Collaborate with Social Workers to provide advice and practical support to children and young people identified as "in need" under the Children Act 1989.
- Assist in co-working assessments with social workers and other agency workers as appropriate.
- Participate in the development and implementation of plans for children who are looked after, ensuring these plans meet their assessed needs.
- Promote educational, training, and employment opportunities for young people, helping them build essential social skills.
- Support young people in securing and maintaining appropriate accommodation and promote their health by facilitating access to healthcare professionals.
- Establish community links to maximize effective responses to the needs of children and young people.
- Maintain up-to-date case records using management information systems and ensure compliance with national and locally agreed quality standards.
- Significant experience working with vulnerable children, young people, and families, particularly in times of change.
- Demonstrated ability to work well in a multi-agency setting and respect the views of other organisations.
- Strong understanding of the Children Act 1989 and knowledge of safeguarding in a children's context.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, and competent in IT systems including social care systems.
- Ability to make basic assessments of need and risk, and to engage vulnerable children and young people in decision-making.
- NVQ/QCF level 3 in care in a children and families setting or equivalent.
- GCSE in English (A-C) or equivalent.
