A well-established and highly regarded accountancy practice in Sheffield is looking to strengthen its audit team with the appointment of an experienced Audit Senior. You’ll be responsible for managing audit assignments from planning through to completion, working across a varied portfolio of clients and sectors. You’ll have regular exposure to clients and senior members of the team, while also supporting more junior colleagues and taking responsibility for the quality and delivery of your work. The role offers a good balance of technical audit work, client interaction and wider accounts exposure, with plenty of opportunity to develop your experience and progress within the practice.
This role would suit an experienced Audit Senior who is ACA or ACCA qualified, or nearly qualified. You’ll ideally have a good background within accountancy practice and be confident managing your own audit assignments, communicating directly with clients and working to deadlines. Most importantly, they’re looking for someone who is proactive, commercially minded and keen to continue developing their career within a supportive practice environment.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Planning, completing and reviewing audit assignments
- Preparing statutory accounts and supporting financial statements
- Managing your own portfolio of audit clients
- Working closely with clients throughout the audit process
- Reviewing work completed by junior members of the team
- Providing guidance and support to more junior staff
- Working closely with Managers and Directors on more complex assignments
- Ensuring assignments are completed accurately and within agreed deadlines
- Identifying opportunities to improve processes and add value for clients
- Supporting with wider accounts and practice work where required
Who you are:
- Previous experience working within an accountancy practice environment
- Strong audit experience at Senior level
- ACA / ACCA qualified, part-qualified or qualified by experience
- Confident dealing directly with clients
- Good technical accounting and audit knowledge
- Able to manage your own workload and meet deadlines
- Comfortable reviewing work and supporting junior team members
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Ambitious and keen to progress your career
- A commercial and client-focused approach
