Sheffield Precision Medical is looking for an experienced and flexible Quality Control Inspector to join our skilled manufacturing team.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with Quality Control and Metrology experience who enjoys working on a challenging and varied product range and wants to develop their skills while supporting our manufacturing team.

You'll work in a clean manufacturing environment with accurate metrology machinery and equipment, taking responsibility for reviewing products to ensure they conform to customer specifications, while providing collaborative support to Production Engineers and associated departments.

The Role at a Glance

Position: Quality Control Inspector
Shift pattern: Standard day shift – 07:00–15:00, Monday–Friday

The Quality Control Inspector is actively engaged in ensuring products meet customer requirements and that quality control systems are maintained throughout manufacture. Inspectors will have day-to-day responsibility for working with staff in the Quality and Technical departments, while progressing jobs with Engineers and Machine Operators.

You won't be expected to know everything from day one. You'll be supported by experienced colleagues who are happy to share their knowledge, and we encourage people to ask questions and learn from each other.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Carry out final dimensional inspections against engineering drawings and complete applicable reports, including CTQs (Critical-to-Quality dimensions) and FAI (First Article Inspection).

• Conduct first-off/last-off inspections against engineering drawings and 3D models on production batches, new products and prototypes.

• Create and complete customer-specific inspection reports using IPI inspection software and the company MRP system.

• Verify Production Engineer in-process checks, communicating feedback to support the collective goal of quality control.

• Carry out sample inspections and spot-checks on production work as appropriate.

• Ensure quality control systems are maintained and followed.

• Carry out visual and functional checks as required for piece parts and final assemblies.

• Provide training to SPM staff on the use of inspection equipment.

• Support the QC & QA departments to ensure the calibration system is maintained.

• Support the Inspection department to ensure inspection machines and equipment are serviced and maintained.

• Work with production operatives to achieve customer priorities and production targets.

• Engage in collaborative customer communications and meetings as required.

Desired Experience

• Strong understanding of engineering drawings and geometric tolerancing.

• Sound experience and capability in operating, setting and programming CMM machinery.

• Sound experience and capability in the use of basic handheld inspection equipment and shadow graphs.

• Experience in the use and control of precision gauges.

• Computer literate, with the ability to quickly adopt and use company software.

• Previous experience working with OGP (Optical Projector) and Vicci Vision (laser-scanning) equipment is desirable but not essential.

Work Pattern

• 7am–3pm Mon–Fri

• Break-time – ½ Hr Lunch-break

• ¼ Hr Breakfast-break gesture if starting at 7am or before

• Over-time Rate – Mon–Sat: x1.5 / Sun: Double-time

• Company Bonus – Company Output/Performance dependant

• Holiday Allowance – 26 Days + 8 Statutory (34 / Yr)

• Pension Plan – State: Company 3% / Employee 5% (Auto-enrol, Opt-out optional)
