Head of Finance - #2128651

Sewell Wallis are recruiting for an Interim Head of Finance for an organisation based in South Sheffield.

The role is a 6-month fixed term contract to stabilise the team after a period of change. You'll need to be a confident and capable people manager who can inspire and lead a shared service centre. You'll need experience managing a large team, including Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable and Treasury.

You'll ensure that financial controls, compliance and governance are maintained across all transactional finance processes, looking to review and improve those that are not fit for purpose.

This role needs a qualified Accountant who is confident with process improvements, streamlining workflows and, most importantly, someone who enjoys people management and has experience boosting performance and morale across a business.

What will you be doing?

• Lead and develop Finance Operations across Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable and Treasury, ensuring efficient, high-quality, customer-focused service delivery.
• Provide strong people leadership to a team of circa 50, fostering a high-performance, inclusive and collaborative culture, with a focus on engagement, wellbeing, capability, performance and succession planning.
• Ensure effective financial control and operational delivery, maintaining robust governance, compliance, reconciliations, risk management, fraud prevention and business continuity across transactional finance activities.
• Drive continuous improvement and financial sustainability, optimising processes, working capital, cash collection, debt management and expenditure controls while reducing manual activity and improving efficiency.
• Lead finance transformation and change, including systems implementation, automation, process redesign and embedding new ways of working, supported by clear KPIs, service standards and management information.
• Build strong stakeholder partnerships and contribute to wider strategy, working collaboratively across Finance and the wider organisation to deliver excellent service, support organisational objectives and champion compassionate, values-led leadership.

What skills are we looking for?

• Qualified accountant - ACCA, CIMA, ACA
• Experience leading large teams, ideally in a shared service centre, of approx. 30+ people
• Experience working with business who need steadying after a period of change
• Evidence of process improvement within AR, AP, and treasury teams
• Understanding of controls, compliance and governance required from transactional finance
