Conrad Consulting Ltd

Conrad Consulting have partnered with a thriving, medium-sized architectural studio in the heart of Sheffield to recruit an experienced Architectural Technologist with strong technical delivery and job-running capability.

This is an excellent opportunity to join a dynamic and evolving practice that has firmly established itself as one of Sheffield’s leading architectural studios. Over recent years, the practice has grown organically and developed an excellent reputation for delivering high-quality, technically considered projects across a diverse range of sectors, including Education, Healthcare, Energy, Life Sciences, R&D, Industrial and Commercial.

With a talented team of around 30 Architects, Designers and Technicians, the studio prides itself on its collaborative and supportive culture. The team enjoys a professional yet friendly working environment, with regular social events and a strong emphasis on collaboration, knowledge sharing and professional development.

The Role

As an Architectural Technologist, you will play a key role in the technical design, coordination and delivery of projects, working across all RIBA Stages from concept through to completion.

We’re looking for someone who enjoys working collaboratively, taking an active role within project teams and seeing schemes progress successfully from the early design stages through to construction and completion.

You will be responsible for producing and coordinating high-quality technical information, developing detailed design packages and ensuring projects meet the required technical, regulatory and quality standards.

Working closely with Architects, consultants and contractors, you will contribute to the day-to-day running of projects and play an important role in resolving technical challenges throughout the design and construction process.

The practice is particularly keen to hear from Technologists with experience delivering medium to large-scale projects, ideally across Education, Healthcare, R&D Laboratories and Industrial sectors. A significant proportion of the studio’s upcoming workload is within Education and Healthcare, offering the opportunity to become involved in some substantial and technically interesting schemes.

This position would suit an experienced Architectural Technologist who is confident taking ownership of technical packages and projects, enjoys working collaboratively and wants to play an active role in delivering schemes from concept through to completion.

Key Requirements

  • Degree or equivalent qualification in Architectural Technology or a related discipline
  • MCIAT or working towards chartered status would be advantageous
  • Strong experience working across all RIBA Stages
  • Proven technical delivery and job-running experience
  • Experience working on medium to large-scale projects
  • Sector experience within Education, Healthcare, R&D Laboratories and/or Industrial projects would be highly desirable
  • Excellent technical knowledge, particularly across detailed design and construction stages
  • Strong understanding of UK Building Regulations and construction standards
  • Proficient in Revit with experience working within a BIM-enabled environment
  • Ability to produce and coordinate comprehensive technical drawing and information packages
  • Experience coordinating consultants, contractors and multidisciplinary design teams
  • Confident communicating with clients and other project stakeholders
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage workloads and project deadlines effectively
  • A collaborative approach and willingness to contribute positively to the wider studio team

What’s on Offer

  • Competitive salary of £38,000–£45,000 per annum
  • Comprehensive benefits package
  • Hybrid working arrangements, combining studio-based working with flexibility
  • Opportunity to take ownership of the technical delivery of projects
  • Exposure to a varied portfolio of medium and large-scale, technically challenging schemes
  • A collaborative and supportive studio environment
  • Opportunities for continued professional development and career progression

If you’re an experienced Architectural Technologist looking for an opportunity to take greater ownership of technically challenging projects within a collaborative and ambitious Sheffield studio, we’d love to hear from you.
