Temporary Markets Officer

• Hourly Rate: £15.56
• Location: Sheffield
• Job Type: Temporary (Up to 6 months)
• Working Hours: 9am to 5pm, Monday to Friday (with one Saturday every three weeks)

Join Sheffield City Council in shaping the future of Sheffield's markets. We are looking for a Temporary Markets Officer to support the delivery and development of our Markets Service. This role offers a unique opportunity to work with over 150 independent retailers and contribute to the thriving market community in Sheffield.

Day-to-day of the role:

• Support the day-to-day operations of Sheffield's indoor and outdoor markets, as well as the Marketplace at Crystal Peaks.
• Contribute to the ongoing development of the Markets Service to ensure it is resilient and ready to meet future retail challenges.
• Use IT systems effectively to support service delivery.
• Ensure compliance with relevant regulations and standards.
• Provide operational cover on one Saturday every three weeks as part of contracted hours, paid at an enhanced rate.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

• Experience working within an operational team.
• Strong organisational and time-management skills.
• Confidence, enthusiasm, and a proactive approach.
• Excellent communication and customer service skills.
• Comfortable using IT systems in a professional setting.
• Ability to contribute ideas and support strategic improvements.
