Engineering Project Manager

Our client is a well-established, growing manufacturer within the food production sector, known for its investment in continuous improvement and engineering excellence. As part of ongoing investment, they are seeking an experienced Engineering Project Manager to take ownership of a significant project plan and drive safe, efficient delivery from concept through to completion.

The Role

This is a hands-on, site-based leadership role for an experienced Project Manager with a proven background in project management within a food or FMCG manufacturing environment. You'll take full ownership of end-to-end project delivery, from developing user requirement specifications through to implementation, while working closely with senior internal and external stakeholders to ensure projects are delivered safely, on time, and within budget.

Key responsibilities include:

• Developing clear user requirement specifications to establish shared understanding of project objectives and standards
• Managing end-to-end project and change implementation within defined timelines, budgets and change control procedures
• Monitoring third-party suppliers and technology partners to ensure delivery against agreed specifications and standards
• Identifying, assessing and mitigating project risk through a live risk management plan, keeping stakeholders informed throughout
• Providing leadership, development and performance management to the project team
• Supporting Product Development with engineering input from concept through to launch
• Liaising directly with customers to align technical, quality and manufacturing standards
• Identifying engineering solutions to manufacturing challenges around capacity, efficiency, health & safety, hygiene and environmental performance
• Reporting on project financials, with a strong focus on capital efficiency and accelerating cash realisation

What We're Looking For

• Proven track record delivering £1 million+ projects within a food manufacturing (or closely related) environment
• Genuine, hands-on project management experience is essential
• Formal project management qualification (e.g. PRINCE2, PMI) and working knowledge of MS Project or equivalent
• Familiarity with AutoCAD or similar design software
• Strong understanding of Risk Management legislation and CDM regulations
• Experience managing third-party contractors and suppliers
• Exposure to ERP/BI systems and infrastructure projects is advantageous
• Financially astute, with experience in project financial reporting and capital cost control
• Confident presenting to and influencing senior internal and external stakeholders
• Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
• A degree in Project Management is desirable but proven delivery experience is essential
