- Hourly Rate: £22.32 per hour via umbrella
- Location: Sheffield
- Job Type: 6-month contract, potential for temp-to-perm
- Hours: 37hrs per week, Mon-Fri, 8am-4pm
We are seeking a skilled Bricklayer to join our team, responsible for carrying out reactive repairs, void property work, planned maintenance, and minor building projects across both occupied and empty properties. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys tenant interaction and is skilled in multi-task maintenance work, differing from traditional site-based new-build roles.
Day-to-day of the role:
Brickwork Repairs:
- Repair damaged or deteriorated brickwork.
- Rebuild garden walls, boundary walls, and retaining walls.
- Repoint brickwork and masonry.
- Replace cracked or spalled bricks and blocks.
- Carry out repairs to chimney stacks and external masonry.
Property Maintenance:
- Complete repairs to occupied council homes and void properties.
- Carry out concrete repairs to paths, steps, floors, and foundations.
- Repair paving slabs, block paving, and external hard standings.
- Undertake drainage and soakaway repairs when required.
Tenant-Focused Repairs:
- Attend scheduled appointments within residents' homes.
- Explain works to tenants and maintain a professional manner.
- Ensure properties are left safe, clean, and secure after work completion.
- Report safeguarding concerns or serious property defects to supervisors.
Health & Safety:
- Complete risk assessments before starting work.
- Follow council and housing association safety procedures.
- Use PPE correctly and maintain tools, equipment, and company vehicles safely.
Administrative Duties:
- Receive jobs through a PDA/tablet or mobile device.
- Update work orders and record labour, materials, and completion notes.
- Order materials and manage van stock.
- Photograph completed works where required.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- NVQ Level 3 in Bricklaying.
- Asbestos Qualification.
- Experience in social housing or repairs.
- Strong customer service skills.
- Ability to work independently from a PDA schedule.
- Knowledge of health & safety and working in occupied properties.
- Full UK driving licence.
