They are on the lookout for an experienced Senior Town Planner to hit the ground running for their Sheffield office.

Duties for the role of Senior Town Planner:

  • Leading and managing a varied portfolio of planning projects.
  • Providing high-quality planning advice to clients across a range of development sectors.
  • Developing and implementing planning strategies for complex development proposals.
  • Managing and coordinating planning applications from initial feasibility through to submission and determination.
  • Preparing and reviewing planning reports, statements and other technical documentation.
  • Liaising confidently with local planning authorities, statutory consultees and other stakeholders.
  • Coordinating multidisciplinary consultant teams and ensuring projects remain on programme.
  • Building and maintaining strong, trusted relationships with clients.
  • Supporting business development and identifying opportunities to grow existing client relationships.
  • Contributing to the wider development and success of the consultancy.
  • Supporting and mentoring more junior members of the team.

Requirements for the role of Senior Town Planner:

  • Relevant degree within Town Planning or another relevant discipline that is RTPI accredited
  • RTPI chartership or working towards chartership
  • Significant experience within a planning consultancy, developer, local authority or related environment
  • Strong knowledge of the UK planning system and development management process
  • Experience managing planning applications and projects from inception through to determination
  • Experience working on complex or high-profile development schemes
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • The confidence to engage with clients, consultants, planning officers and other stakeholders at a senior level
  • Strong project management and organisational skills
  • A commercially minded approach and an understanding of the development process
  • A genuine interest in placemaking and creating successful, sustainable places
  • The ability to work independently while contributing positively to a collaborative team environment
