We are working with a successful, established manufacturing business to recruit a commercially focused Finance Director who will play a pivotal role in the next phase of its growth.

Currently generating revenues of approximately £50m, the business has a clear ambition to double in size to £100m turnover.

This isn't simply about delivering the numbers. The Finance Director will work in close partnership with the Managing Director, helping shape the strategy, professionalise the business for its next stage of growth and ensure that expansion translates into improved profitability and sustainable long-term performance.

As a key member of the senior leadership team, you will become a genuine business partner to the MD — providing commercial insight, constructive challenge and financial leadership as the organisation scales.

A major focus will be understanding the operational drivers behind the numbers.

You'll work across the business to identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency, margins, productivity, working capital and cash generation, while ensuring the right financial infrastructure, systems and controls are in place to support a significantly larger organisation.

Key responsibilities will include:

• Acting as a strategic and commercial partner to the Managing Director.
• Playing a central role in developing and delivering the strategy to grow revenues from £50m towards £100m.
• Providing insight and challenge around commercial opportunities, investment decisions and business performance.
• Driving improvements in operational efficiency, profitability and margin.
• Working closely with operational and commercial teams to understand and improve the key drivers of performance.
• Developing high-quality management information, KPIs and forecasting to support faster, better decision-making.
• Leading budgeting, forecasting, cash flow and longer-term financial planning.
• Improving working capital and cash conversion as the organisation grows.
• Ensuring finance systems, processes and controls are capable of supporting a business of significantly greater scale.
• Leading and developing the finance team and raising the profile of finance across the organisation.
• Maintaining strong financial governance, controls, statutory reporting and compliance.

You will be a qualified senior finance professional with the ability to operate well beyond the traditional boundaries of finance.

You may already be operating as a Finance Director, or you could be an ambitious Head of Finance or Financial Controller ready to step into a broader leadership position.

Experience within manufacturing, engineering, or another operationally complex environment would be particularly valuable.

More important is your ability to combine strong financial control with commercial curiosity and operational understanding.

You'll be comfortable getting out from behind the spreadsheet, working closely with people across the organisation and challenging the business to continually improve.

You'll also need the confidence and credibility to work as a genuine partner to an ambitious MD - bringing structure where needed, challenging constructively and helping turn a compelling growth ambition into a financially robust plan.
