Laboratory Technician - #2151859

Elevation Recruitment Group are working on behalf of our client to recruit a Shift Analyst to join their established laboratory team.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a methodical and accurate approach who is looking to develop a career within a technical laboratory environment. Full training will be provided, so previous laboratory experience is desirable rather than essential.

Reporting to the Laboratory Supervisor, you will work as part of a small team responsible for the preparation, testing and analysis of metallic samples and materials.

Key responsibilities will include:

• Preparing metallic samples for analytical testing using cutting, grinding and automated equipment
• Carrying out analytical testing of metals and slags using analysers, optical emission and X-ray spectrometers
• Conducting radioactivity testing of metals and slags
• Accurately entering and verifying test results
• Completing equipment standardisation and shift-start preparation activities
• Maintaining accurate records and documentation
• Carrying out basic equipment maintenance and fault-finding
• Identifying equipment issues and determining when supplier support is required
• Following defined methods, procedures and company health and safety standards
• Working effectively both independently and as part of a small laboratory team

We are looking for someone who is technically minded, reliable and comfortable working within a structured environment.

You will ideally have:

• A minimum of 5 GCSEs at Grade C or above, including English and Maths
• Good verbal and written communication skills
• Strong numerical and attention-to-detail skills
• A methodical approach to standardised processes
• An awareness of workplace health and safety
• The ability to work independently and as part of a small team
• Flexibility to work a rotating 12-hour day and night shift pattern

Previous experience using laboratory testing equipment, particularly gas analysis or spectroscopy, would be advantageous.

However, full training will be provided, and applications are welcomed from candidates who demonstrate the right attitude, aptitude and willingness to learn.
