IMMEDIATE START – ASSISTANT DRILLER / SECOND MAN – SHEFFIELD

We are currently recruiting for an Assistant Driller / Second Man to join a geothermal drilling operation in Sheffield, supporting an experienced Lead Driller on site.

This is a great opportunity for someone with a background in drilling, groundworks, construction, plant operations or other outdoor site-based work who is looking to develop a career within the renewable energy sector.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assisting the Lead Driller with geothermal borehole drilling

• Supporting the operation of drilling rigs and ancillary equipment

• Operating and maintaining mud cleaning/recycling equipment

• Assisting with installation of ground-source heat pump borehole loops

• Supporting grouting and borehole completion

• Keeping the rig, equipment and work area clean, safe and prepared

• Assisting with routine equipment checks and basic maintenance

• Maintaining high health & safety and environmental standards

• Supporting site records and QA/QC requirements

Requirements:

• Previous drilling experience preferred but not essential

• Previous outdoor construction, groundworks or site experience

• CSCS card or ability to obtain one

• Full UK Driving Licence

• Strong work ethic and reliable attitude

• Good communication and ability to work as part of a team

• Willingness to learn and develop within geothermal drilling

• Telehandler ticket and Emergency First Aid desirable
