This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled machinist to work with specialist high-performance alloys, producing precision-engineered components within a quality-focused manufacturing environment.

The Role

Reporting to the Machine Shop Supervisor, you will be responsible for machining components to an exceptionally high standard, ensuring customer specifications, quality requirements, and production targets are consistently achieved.

You will utilise your manual machining skills and engineering knowledge to manufacture precision components from technical drawings, working with a variety of materials, including high-grade alloys such as Inconel 718.

Key Responsibilities

• Manufacture precision components from engineering drawings and specifications.
• Operate manual lathes safely and efficiently.
• Machine components to tight tolerances and exact customer requirements.
• Select and utilise appropriate tooling, feeds and speeds to optimise machining performance.
• Inspect completed components to ensure compliance with quality standards.
• Work in accordance with company quality procedures and manufacturing standards.
• Maintain a clean, safe and organised working environment.
• Achieve production targets and estimated machining times.
• Troubleshoot machining issues and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
• Work collaboratively with colleagues and supervisors to meet customer delivery requirements.

Skills & Experience Required

• Proven experience operating manual lathes within an engineering or manufacturing environment.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
• Strong understanding of machining principles and manufacturing processes.
• Experience selecting appropriate tooling and calculating feeds and speeds.
• Experience machining high-grade materials such as Inconel 718, stainless steels, nickel alloys or similar materials would be highly advantageous.
• Excellent attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work.
• Strong problem-solving abilities.
• Good communication skills.
• Flexible and adaptable approach to work.
