Academics is recruiting a SEMH Teacher to work within a SEMH and trauma-informed setting, where students present with SEMH and sensory needs. This is an exceptionally important role, enabling engagement and education for some of the most vulnerable children in education.

The Role

You will be working in an independent SEMH and trauma-informed setting with a bespoke curriculum, with purpose-built cabins to support sensory learning when required.

You will work within multi-disciplinary teams, with very small class sizes with pupils aged 6 to 16 years.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver personalised lessons
  • Adapt learning to meet EHCP targets
  • Support pupils with a range of SEN, including ASC, ADHD and SEMH
  • Promote positive behaviour and independence
  • Work collaboratively with support staff and therapists
  • Follow safeguarding procedures
  • Maintain a calm, consistent and nurturing environment

Candidate Requirements

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent
  • Previous SEN teaching experience, or strong knowledge of specialist education
  • Understanding of Autism, ADHD, SEMH, SLD, PMLD and additional learning needs
  • Enhanced Child and Adult DBS (or willingness to obtain both)

What Academics Offer

  • Flexible SEN teaching opportunities
  • Competitive daily rate (£145 - £210), paid weekly - term time only
  • Free CPD tailored to complex needs
  • A dedicated consultant to support you throughout your employment
  • Refer a friend scheme - earn up to £125 in Love2Shop vouchers for every education professional you refer to us
  • Temp to permanent contracts where applicable

If you are resilient, compassionate, ready to make a real difference and seeking a role in SEN teaching, we'd love to hear from you.
