Elevations Technical, Design & Projects team are working with a highly established engineering business to recruit a Applications Engineer into their growing global technical & sales function.

This is a technically focused role for an experienced engineer who enjoys understanding customer problems, developing practical solutions and acting as the technical link between customers, sales and engineering.

You’ll work across a wide range of industrial applications, supporting customers and distributors from the initial technical enquiry through to solution development, validation and delivery. The majority of solutions will involve configuring or adapting established products, with the opportunity to work alongside engineering teams where more bespoke requirements arise.

You’ll take ownership of multiple customer projects and technical enquiries, understanding application requirements and determining the most appropriate solution.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Managing technical projects from initial customer enquiry through specification, solution configuration, validation and handover.
• Acting as the key technical contact for customers, distributors and internal sales teams.
• Understanding customer applications and translating technical requirements into practical solutions.
• Supporting technical proposals, quotations and solution documentation.
• Working closely with engineering teams where existing products require modification or further development.
• Providing technical guidance, resolving application queries and supporting customers through the project lifecycle.
• Occasionally visiting customer sites to demonstrate equipment, understand applications and help resolve technical issues.
• Managing multiple projects and enquiries simultaneously, ensuring priorities, deadlines and customer expectations are maintained.
• Feeding customer insight and application requirements back into product development and continuous improvement.
• Supporting technical training for distributors and internal teams where required.
• Occasional UK and international travel.

We're looking for an experienced engineer with a strong technical foundation and the confidence to deal directly with customers.

You could have experience in one of several fields including Application Engineering, Project Engineering, Technical Sales, Instrumentation, or industrial equipment.

You'll ideally have:

• 5+ years' experience within an engineering, industrial or manufacturing environment.
• A strong technical engineering background, with the ability to understand complex applications and solve technical problems.
• Experience dealing directly with customers and handling technical/application queries.
• Experience configuring, adapting or specifying engineered products or technical solutions.
• Strong organisation and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
• A self-starting approach and the ability to work independently without needing constant direction.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to explain technical concepts clearly to different audiences.
• A collaborative approach to working with sales, engineering and other internal stakeholders.
• A willingness to occasionally travel to customer sites when required.

A degree or equivalent qualification in Engineering or another relevant technical discipline would be advantageous.

Rather than being in a commercial sales position, you'll have real technical ownership, working directly with customers to understand their applications and helping shape the right engineering solution.
