VMware Migration Engineer (Infrastructure Migration)

Contract

Sheffield or Birmingham, 3 days a week onsite

Up to £450 per day | 3-6 Month Contract with likely extension | Banking Client

Background verification required.

You will help a Tier 1 bank migrate a large VMware estate at pace, keeping critical banking services stable through every cutover.

THE ROLE:

Discover and assess VMware workloads, dependencies and migration readiness
Design and run migration waves using HCX, vMotion and related tooling, or move workloads to cloud or alternative platforms
Plan cutovers and rollbacks to keep downtime and risk to a minimum
Fix performance, networking and storage issues during and after migration
Write runbooks, build sheets and handover docs for run teams

REQURIMENT:

Deep VMware vSphere, ESXi and vCenter experience
A track record of large-scale VMware or data centre migrations
A solid grasp of networking, storage and compute in an enterprise estate
Tier 1 banking experience, ideally previous HSBC
VMware Cloud Foundation, NSX or vSAN
Experience of migrations to Azure, AWS, GCP or alternative hypervisors
Scripting and automation (PowerCLI, Ansible, Terraform)
