Marketing and Communications Manager - #2173589

Matchtech is recruiting for a Communications & Marketing Manager to support a major organisation operating in the defence and weapon systems sector. This is a 12-month contract (maternity cover) based in Sheffield, with hybrid working (2–3 days onsite per week).

The opportunity

You’ll take the lead on external communications and marketing activity, helping to shape strategy, deliver integrated campaigns, and strengthen stakeholder engagement across a high-profile, technically complex environment.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and deliver an external communications strategy aligned to business and campaign objectives
• Produce high-quality content and messaging across digital, web, social and stakeholder channels
• Lead media relations, including pitching, press materials, engagements and spokesperson support (where required)
• Plan and deliver marketing activity (campaigns, events, exhibitions, sponsorships, creative/brand activity) to drive awareness and lead generation
• Provide expert guidance to stakeholders to ensure consistent standards, governance and best practice
• Track performance and optimise content/campaigns using insight and benchmarking
• Build and maintain strong relationships with external partners and industry stakeholders
• Coordinate across wider teams to ensure communications are proactive, structured and joined up

What we’re looking for

• Proven experience in communications and marketing at a senior level (consultancy or in-house)
• Excellent writing and editing skills, with strong attention to detail
• Confidence working with senior stakeholders and managing competing priorities
• Ability to translate complex information into clear, engaging communications
• Experience delivering multi-channel campaigns (digital/social/web/events)
• Comfortable working in a structured, governance-led environment
• Security clearance: SC is required/desired (with potential to start under BPSS being assessed)

Contract details

• Rate: £36.38 per hour (PAYE)
• Length: 12 months (maternity cover)
