Position: Senior Design Engineer
Location: Wombwell, Barnsley, South Yorkshire (S73 8DS)
Salary: £60,000-£70,000 per annum (DOE)

A Senior Design Engineer is required in Wombwell, Barnsley, South Yorkshire, for our client, one of the UK's leading structural steelwork specialists. Established for over 75 years, the company designs, manufactures and constructs structural steelwork for a wide range of projects across the UK and Europe.

The role involves designing, analysing and delivering safe, efficient and compliant structural engineering solutions. You will work with clients, colleagues and other professionals to develop structural designs, carry out engineering calculations and ensure projects meet relevant standards, client requirements and health and safety regulations.

• Developing structural design solutions using industry-standard engineering software.

• Preparing structural design calculations, applying loadings and analysing stresses and load paths through different parts of a structure.

• Working with clients, colleagues and other professionals to review construction plans, drawings and specifications.

• Ensuring structural designs meet relevant legislation, industry standards, environmental requirements and health and safety regulations.

• Preparing technical information and supporting tender bids.

• Maintaining quality standards and ensuring designs meet project requirements.

• Providing progress reports to clients and senior management.

• Keeping up to date with developments in structural engineering, relevant software and industry best practice.

• Working collaboratively with colleagues to deliver projects within agreed timescales and budgets.

• Extensive experience working in a structural design engineering role.

• Robust knowledge of structural mechanics and engineering principles.

• Strong design calculation skills and experience using structural engineering software.

• Experience with relevant software packages such as Tekla Structural Designer (Fastrak Building Designer), Fastrak Portal Frame, Masterframe, STAAD.Pro or MasterSeries Connections.

• Experience in structural steelwork design is highly relevant.

• Experience in structural connection design is preferred.

• Ability to interpret construction drawings, technical specifications and project requirements.

• Understanding of relevant engineering standards, regulations and health and safety requirements.

• Strong communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with clients, colleagues and other professionals.

• Salary: £60,000-£70,000 per annum, depending on experience.
