Looking for a new opportunity in education?
Provide Education is recruiting Cover Supervisors to work in secondary schools across Sheffield, with free training, a school shadow day and opportunities to increase your daily pay as you gain experience.
This is an excellent opportunity for individuals looking to start a career in education, including those with experience working with young people through youth work, sports coaching, mentoring, tutoring, care work or other relevant sectors.
Previous classroom experience is advantageous but is not essential if you have the right transferable skills, confidence and willingness to learn.
With pay starting at £105 per day and opportunities to progress to £130–£140 per day, you can develop your classroom experience while building a career in education.
What Does the Role Involve?
As a Cover Supervisor in a secondary school, you will:
Supervise students aged 11–16 during lessons when the regular teacher is absent.
Deliver pre-prepared lesson materials and ensure students understand the work provided.
Manage classroom behaviour and maintain a positive learning environment.
Encourage students to remain focused and complete their work.
Follow school policies and safeguarding procedures.
Report any concerns to the appropriate school staff.
Free Training and Career Progression
We offer a structured Cover Supervisor progression pathway to help you prepare for working in schools.
1. Free training course
Complete a training course covering classroom management, behaviour management, safeguarding and the responsibilities of a Cover Supervisor.
2. School shadow day
Attend an unpaid shadow day in a secondary school to observe experienced staff and gain an understanding of classroom routines.
3. Start paid work at £105 per day
Once you have completed the required training, shadowing and compliance checks, you can begin accepting paid Cover Supervisor assignments.
4. Progress to £130–£140 per day
As you gain experience, demonstrate reliability and receive positive feedback from schools, you can progress through our pay structure, with opportunities to earn higher daily rates depending on experience, performance and the assignment.
Flexible Cover Supervisor Work in Sheffield
We have opportunities to suit different preferences and availability, including:
Emergency and ad-hoc cover: Short-notice assignments across multiple secondary schools.
Day-to-day supply: Flexible work based on your availability and school requirements.
Long-term placements: Extended assignments within a single secondary school, offering greater consistency and the opportunity to build relationships with students and staff.
The availability of assignments will depend on school requirements, and flexibility can help you access more opportunities.
What Are We Looking For?
We are interested in candidates who:
Have experience working with young people, ideally secondary school-aged students.
Communicate confidently and professionally.
Can supervise groups and manage classroom behaviour.
Are reliable, adaptable and organised.
Are interested in working in secondary schools and developing a career in education.
Are willing to complete the training, shadow day and required compliance checks.
Experience gained through youth work, sports coaching, mentoring, tutoring, care work or similar roles may be particularly relevant. Previous school experience is beneficial but not essential.
Enhanced DBS and Safeguarding
