Goods-In Operative - Equipment Returns & Wash Bay - #2176354

RVT Group

Date: 1 hour ago
City: Sheffield
Salary: £28,000 - £32,000 / year
Contract type: Full time
RVT Group

About the role

Every piece of RVT equipment that goes back out to a client site starts its journey in goods-in. When kit comes back from construction and industrial sites, you'll be the person who checks it in, cleans it down and makes sure our workshop team receives it in a safe, ready-to-work condition. It's a hands-on role that keeps our yard, wash bay and workshop clean, safe and running smoothly.

What you'll do

  • Receive and book in equipment returning from client sites, checking it against delivery paperwork and our system
  • Inspect every item for damage, knocks, nicks and missing parts; photograph, tag and record what you find so the workshop knows exactly what needs attention
  • Decontaminate and pressure-wash returned kit, removing dust, concrete and slurry
  • Follow our asbestos, COSHH and decontamination procedures, wearing the correct PPE and RPE every time
  • Hand clean equipment over to the workshop team with clear notes
  • Move equipment safely around the yard and warehouse (forklift training provided)
  • Keep the wash bay, goods-in area and yard clean, tidy and hazard-free
  • Load and unload vehicles and support wider yard duties when needed
  • Report any safety hazards, near misses or maintenance issues straight away

Requirements

What you'll bring

  • Hands-on experience in goods-in, returns, a yard, plant or tool hire depot, wash bay, valeting, recycling or a similar physical role
  • A good eye for detail and accurate record-keeping (handheld scanners or simple systems)
  • A safety-first attitude and happy to follow procedures to the letter
  • Comfortable with physical, wet and dusty work, indoors and outdoors in all weathers
  • Reliable timekeeping for a 7:30am start, five days a week on site in Sheffield
  • Nice to have: counterbalance forklift licence, CSCS card, asbestos awareness or COSHH training - we'll train you if not

Benefits

• Competitive Base Salary.

• Growth by Sharing Bonus Scheme + Individual KPIs

• 23 Days Annual Leave (increasing with service) + Bank Holidays.

• Remuneration Package Reviewed Annually.

• Pension Scheme - Auto Enrolment.

• Private Healthcare - Available after successful completion of probation.

• Career Growth - Comprehensive training and development opportunities.

• Employee Assistance Program Line.

• 2 Annual Volunteering days.

• Free Friday Lunch.

• Performance-Orientated Business where you can add real value from day one.
