Lead AWS Platform Engineer - #2178708

We're partnering with a leading global organisation undergoing a major cloud transformation programme and are seeking a Senior AWS Platform Engineer to join a high-performing platform engineering team.

This is a senior, hands-on engineering role focused on building, scaling and operating enterprise Kubernetes platforms that support critical production services. You'll play a key role in the evolution of a shared cloud platform, helping to deliver secure, resilient and highly automated infrastructure used by thousands of applications and engineering teams.

The Role

As a Senior AWS Platform Engineer, you'll be responsible for designing, building and enhancing large-scale AWS and Kubernetes platforms that support business-critical workloads.

Working closely with engineers, architects, product teams and delivery stakeholders, you'll help deliver platform capabilities that improve scalability, reliability, security and developer experience across the wider technology estate.

Key Responsibilities

• Build, operate and enhance large-scale AWS EKS/Kubernetes platforms.
• Develop and deliver cloud platform capabilities using Infrastructure as Code.
• Design and implement automation to improve platform deployment, management and scalability.
• Support secure multi-tenant environments through effective IAM, authentication and secrets management practices.
• Improve platform resilience, observability, monitoring and alerting capabilities.
• Contribute to CI/CD pipelines and modern software delivery practices.
• Take ownership of technical initiatives from research and design through to production release.
• Collaborate with engineers, architects, product teams and delivery stakeholders.
• Support the ongoing evolution of a shared cloud platform strategy.
• Ensure critical production services remain highly available, secure and scalable.

Essential Skills & Experience

• Extensive hands-on experience with Kubernetes and AWS EKS in enterprise environments.
• Strong experience designing, building and operating AWS cloud platforms.
• Proven expertise using Terraform and Infrastructure as Code methodologies.
• Experience building automation and supporting CI/CD pipelines.
• Strong understanding of highly available, resilient production systems.
• Experience with monitoring, observability and platform reliability engineering.
• Solid knowledge of IAM, access controls, authentication and secrets management.
• Experience supporting multi-tenant platforms in large-scale environments.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.

• Python development.

• Helm and Docker.
• Service mesh technologies such as Istio.
• API Gateway technologies such as Kong.
