The Role:
In this position, you will work closely with students who have Autism, helping them navigate both academic and social challenges. Your primary responsibilities include:
Specialised Support: Provide targeted assistance to students with Autism, adapting learning materials and strategies to meet their individual needs
Progress Monitoring: Track the progress of students, offering feedback to teachers and parents to ensure that they are reaching key developmental milestones
Emotional Support: Create a safe, structured, and nurturing environment, offering emotional guidance to help students manage their anxieties and sensory sensitivities
Communication: Maintain strong lines of communication with teachers, parents, and professionals involved in each student's education, ensuring a holistic approach to their development
Promoting Inclusion: Encourage a sense of belonging for students with Autism, promoting social integration and inclusivity within the school community
Requirements:
Relevant experience as an SEN Teaching Assistant, particularly with students on the Autism spectrum
Strong empathy, patience, and a genuine passion for helping students with Autism succeed
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
The ability to work collaboratively within a team, adapting to meet the unique needs of each student
Experience in implementing individualised learning plans (IEPs) and supporting students in both one-on-one and group settings is advantageous
