Psychology Graduate – SEN & SEMH Support – South Sheffield | Elevate Supply
Elevate Supply is excited to be working in partnership with an inclusive and forward-thinking SEN school in South Sheffield to recruit passionate and empathetic Psychology Graduates who are keen to gain hands-on experience supporting children with Special Educational Needs (SEN) and Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. This is a brilliant opportunity for recent graduates looking to start a meaningful career in education, mental health, or youth support.
This is a full-time position, with onboarding to be completed by the May half term, ready for a June start, and will run through to the end of the academic year, with a strong chance of continuation into September.
Pay Rate: £85 – £110 per day, depending on experience and qualifications.
The Role
As a Psychology Graduate, you will work as a Teaching Assistant or Pastoral Support Worker, supporting students with SEMH and additional needs either on a 1:1 basis or in small groups. You'll play a vital role in helping young people regulate their emotions, build confidence, and access education in a structured and supportive environment.

Your Responsibilities
- Provide in-class and out-of-class support for students with SEMH or SEND
- Build strong, trusting relationships with pupils based on consistency and empathy
- Use de-escalation and emotional regulation techniques to support behaviour
- Work with teachers and external professionals to implement individual support plans
- Help deliver social skills and wellbeing-based interventions
- Maintain a calm and nurturing presence throughout the school day
- Uphold safeguarding and promote a safe, inclusive learning environment
- A recent degree in Psychology or related subject (essential)
- Experience working with young people or in a support setting (desirable)
- A genuine interest in mental health, trauma-informed practice, or inclusive education
- Strong communication skills and emotional intelligence
- Adaptability, patience, and a proactive attitude
- An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)
