This role offers a unique opportunity to lead the Netball provision across Mount St Mary’s College, alongside Multi-Sport coaching inspiring participation and sporting excellence. The successful candidate will work alongside our Director of Sport, Heads of Sport and wider coaching team to continue to deliver an inclusive and competitive Netball programme, fostering talent, teamwork, and development at all levels.


Key Responsibilities


1. Netball Leadership & Development



  • Design, lead and evolve the Netball programme, promoting participation and performance.

  • Create a safe, professional, and inclusive coaching environment for all students.

  • Mentor other staff, support peer learning, and share up-to-date coaching practice.



2. Coaching & Fixture Management



  • Plan and deliver engaging, progressive Netball sessions using a variety of methods.

  • Coordinate and coach school teams in fixtures, tournaments and pre-season training.

  • Manage all related logistics: arranging transport, catering, umpires, and medical support via our school operational systems and SOCS platform.

  • Keep detailed records of session plans, student attendance, performance and progression.



3. Programme Coordination & Communication



  • Prepare seasonal schedules and co-curricular timetables at least one term in advance.

  • Support the organisation of domestic and international Netball tours and excursions with the Director of Sport.

  • Provide half-termly reports on students, teams, students and sport-wide performance.

  • Liaise regularly with parents and carers, ensuring strong communication regarding student development.



4. Multi-Sport Coaching



  • Deliver inclusive, challenging, and engaging coaching sessions across a broad range of sports and age groups.

  • Coach and lead teams during fixtures, tournaments, and tours, with a focus on building technical skills, tactical understanding, and team ethos.

  • Contribute to sport-specific development, particularly in key sports across our sports programme.



5. Wider School Contribution



  • Promote Mount St Mary’s College sport externally, working with the Marketing team to generate social media content and weekly newsletter articles.

  • Ensure that all equipment is well maintained and appropriate for use.

  • Conduct and record risk assessments for all sports activities under your remit.



Essential Criteria



  • Recognised Level 2 Netball Coaching Qualification (or equivalent).

  • Proven experience coaching or playing at a good level (e.g. county or regional).

  • Excellent organisational and communication skills, including IT proficiency.

  • Ability to motivate, challenge and inspire young people in a high-performance and inclusive environment.

  • Understanding of safeguarding practices and risk management in sport.



Desirable Attributes



  • Experience in a school or youth coaching setting.

  • Familiarity with long-term athlete development principles.

  • Understanding of child pedagogy and barriers to inclusion in sport.

  • Experience working with performance pathways and talent ID frameworks.
