Primary Teaching Assistant – Sheffield Location: Sheffield, South Yorkshire Salary: £85 – £100 per day Start Date: ASAP Contract Type: Full-time / Part-time

Make a Difference in the Classroom Are you passionate about supporting young learners and helping them thrive in a primary school environment? GSL Education is currently seeking enthusiastic and dedicated Primary Teaching Assistants to work in schools across Sheffield. This is a fantastic opportunity to play a key role in the development and progress of pupils in Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2.

Key Responsibilities of a Primary Teaching Assistant:

  • Provide one-to-one and small group support to ensure pupils remain focused and make progress.

  • Assist the class teacher in delivering engaging and differentiated lessons.

  • Support pupils with special educational needs (SEN), behavioural challenges, or additional learning needs.

  • Help create a positive, inclusive, and nurturing classroom environment.

  • Encourage pupil participation, confidence, and independence.

  • Supervise children during breaks, lunchtimes, and school-based activities.

Requirements for a Primary Teaching Assistant:

  • Experience working with primary-aged children (in schools, tutoring, or childcare settings).

  • A good understanding of SEN, Autism, ADHD, and behaviour management strategies is desirable.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • A patient, adaptable, and proactive attitude towards supporting learning.

  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team or independently when needed.

  • An enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply for one).
