Role Overview

As part of an exciting period of growth within our EduPay team, we’re expanding our customer operations function to support increased demand ahead of FY26. We’re now hiring Payroll Support Advisors to join us on the 21st July.

This role will begin with a structured 6-week onboarding and training programme, designed to ensure our new team members are fully equipped with the knowledge and skills to succeed by 1st September, a critical period for our customers.

This is a great opportunity to join a supportive and collaborative team in our Sheffield office, delivering best-in-class service to the schools and educators who rely on Tes.

What does the process look like?

  • Our team will review your CV and experience.
  • If successful, you’ll be asked to complete a 10–15 minute behavioural assessment.
  • Candidates who pass this stage will be contacted by a Tes Talent Team member to arrange a 15-minute screening call.
  • Final-stage candidates will be invited to attend one of our Assessment Centres on either:
    • Thursday 26th June, or
    • Thursday 3rd July (Please ensure your availability for these dates).
    • Provide outstanding payroll support via phone, email, and webchat.
    • Handle and resolve customer enquiries efficiently and empathetically.
    • Maintain accurate records of interactions and solutions provided.
    • Collaborate with internal and external partners to ensure seamless service delivery.
    • Work in line with service level agreements (SLAs) and quality standards.
    • Stay up to date with product and payroll knowledge to offer expert advice.
    • Support other operations functions during periods of high demand.
    • Participate in continuous learning and skill development.
    • Occasional weekend support may be required during peak times (time off in lieu will be provided).
    • Previous payroll support or customer service experience (preferred but not essential).
    • Ideally, a professional payroll qualification (e.g. CIPP) — again, not essential.
    • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
    • Ability to solve problems calmly and logically.
    • Confident in using various software and digital tools.
    • A positive, professional, and team-oriented attitude.
    • Organised, self-motivated, and adaptable.
