Parkinson | Lee Executive Search is retained on a confidential assignment to appoint a Sales Director for a long-established UK manufacturing group supplying a range of building products into the merchant and construction markets.
The business is well-recognised in its sector, with established customer relationships and a strong platform for growth through strategic development and cross-sell potential across the wider group.
The Role:
This is a high-impact, senior leadership role reporting to the Group Managing Director, with full responsibility for shaping and delivering the commercial strategy across the UK. The successful candidate will lead a national sales team, drive direct engagement with key customers, and work cross-functionally to align commercial and operational delivery.
- Lead and restructure the national sales function, covering internal and external teams
- Take full ownership of sales strategy, revenue delivery, and performance management
- Act as a senior, client-facing figurehead – regularly engaging with major customers and merchant partners across the UK
- Drive a culture of accountability, field-based selling, and commercial discipline
- Identify and develop cross-sell opportunities and underutilised customer channels
- Work closely with senior stakeholders in operations, production, and finance to ensure alignment across functions
The Candidate:
We are looking for a proven sales leader with deep expertise in the UK building products market and a strong merchant channel background.
You will bring:
- Extensive experience selling into national and independent merchants
- A clear record of delivering commercial growth through both team leadership and hands-on customer engagement
- The ability to lead from the front – actively representing the business across the UK with major customers and partners
- Experience restructuring and managing sales teams to drive performance and accountability
- A commercial mindset with the ability to identify new revenue streams, cross-sell opportunities and margin improvement
- Strong internal credibility and the confidence to work closely with senior leadership
