About the Role
We are looking for an experienced IAM Controls & Governance Lead to own and enhance enterprise authentication and Identity & Access Management (IAM) control frameworks within a global cybersecurity environment.

Location: Sheffield, UK (Hybrid – 3 days onsite)
Employment Type: Subcontract - Inside IR35
What You’ll Do
IAM Controls & Governance
- Own and evolve the enterprise authentication control framework, including policies, procedures, standards, and operational guidance.
- Define and maintain the strategic roadmap for IAM controls, ensuring alignment with business priorities, cybersecurity risks, and regulatory requirements.
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives to enhance control maturity, operational resilience, and governance effectiveness.
Risk, Audit & Compliance
- Oversee control effectiveness assessments, remediation tracking, and governance reporting.
- Act as the primary contact for audit, regulatory, and control testing engagements.
- Ensure timely and accurate responses to auditors, regulators, and internal stakeholders.
- Support risk acceptance and exception management processes with clear documentation and governance oversight.
Stakeholder & Cross-Functional Leadership
- Collaborate closely with technology, engineering, cybersecurity, and business teams to address control gaps and strengthen governance practices.
- Provide subject matter expertise and strategic guidance across all lines of defense.
- Facilitate governance forums and steering committees to align on priorities and key initiatives.
Operational Excellence
- Define and monitor KPIs, metrics, and reporting frameworks to support data-driven decision-making.
- Streamline operational processes and procedures to improve efficiency and scalability.
- Drive a proactive, ownership-focused culture across the IAM governance function.
Team Leadership
- Lead and mentor a high-performing global team.
- Support talent development, coaching, and continuous capability growth within the organization.
What We’re Looking For
Required Experience
- Proven experience in IAM governance, authentication controls, or cybersecurity risk management within large enterprise environments.
- Strong understanding of enterprise risk and control frameworks.
- Experience managing audits, regulatory engagements, and remediation programs.
- Demonstrated success working with senior stakeholders across business and technology functions.
- Strong analytical, reporting, and problem-solving capabilities.
- Experience creating and improving operational processes, governance models, and control procedures.
Preferred Experience
- Experience within Identity & Access Management (IAM) environments.
- Exposure to cybersecurity governance within regulated industries such as banking or financial services.
- Certifications such as: CISA, CISSP, CISM, CRISC
