The M+E Maintenance Engineer Opportunity

A recruitment partner is currently supporting a well-established engineering and manufacturing business in the search for an experienced M+E Maintenance Engineer to join their maintenance team.

This position will play a key role in supporting day-to-day operational reliability across a fast-paced manufacturing environment. The successful candidate will be responsible for both electrical and mechanical maintenance activities, ensuring plant equipment, systems, and machinery are maintained to a high operational and compliance standard.

The business operates within a precision engineering and heavy industrial environment, supplying specialist engineered products into demanding global markets.

Key Responsibilities of the M+E Maintenance Engineer

The successful M+E Maintenance engineer will be responsible for carrying out planned preventative maintenance as well as responding to reactive breakdowns across the facility. The role will involve diagnosing and repairing both electrical and mechanical faults in a safe and efficient manner, minimising downtime and supporting production continuity.

You will assist with installation works and modifications to plant equipment where required, while ensuring all maintenance activities are completed in accordance with site safety procedures and compliance standards. Prior to carrying out tasks, suitable risk assessments and safe systems of work must always be followed.

The role will also involve working with site electrical and control systems, supporting continuous improvement initiatives, and maintaining accurate maintenance records using internal systems and software.

You will regularly liaise with production teams, supervisors, and external contractors to coordinate maintenance activities and ensure work is completed effectively and safely.

Requirements from the M+E Maintenance Engineer

Applicants should hold a recognised apprenticeship within either electrical or mechanical maintenance engineering and have previous experience working within a manufacturing, industrial, or heavy engineering environment.

Candidates should have strong fault-finding abilities across mechanical and electrical systems, with exposure to PLCs, plant controls, and automated systems considered highly advantageous.

The ideal candidate will be self-motivated, safety conscious, and capable of working independently or as part of a wider engineering team. Strong communication skills and basic computer literacy are also important for the role.

What’s on Offer for the M+E Maintenance Engineer

This opportunity offers the chance to join a stable and growing engineering business with a strong reputation within its sector. The company can provide long-term career development, exposure to complex engineering systems, and the opportunity to work within a highly skilled maintenance environment.
