Sheffield

£50,000 - £58,500 including shift allowance

A leading advanced manufacturing business is seeking an experienced Equipment Maintenance Specialist to join its night shift engineering team. This is a critical role focused on maximising equipment reliability, limiting downtime and ensuring high precision machinery and production assets are maintained to the highest standards.

The Role

You’ll be responsible for maintaining and repairing high-spec, high precision CNC machinery and associated production equipment in a fast-paced, precision-driven environment. Working closely with production and engineering teams, you’ll play a key role in minimising downtime and driving continuous improvement across the site.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and condition-based servicing on high precision CNC machines and ancillary equipment
  • Diagnose and resolve electrical, mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic faults
  • Respond to breakdowns quickly to restore production capability
  • Support installation, alignment, calibration and commissioning of new or modified high precision equipment
  • Contribute to root cause analysis and implement corrective actions to prevent repeat issues
  • Manage spare parts inventory, ensuring critical components are available when needed
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to improve overall equipment reliability and performance

What We’re Looking For

  • Multi-skilled maintenance experience with a strong electrical bias
  • Proven fault-finding capability across mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic systems
  • Experience working with high precision machinery (e.g. CNC machining environments)
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, schematics and PLC/HMI documentation
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally
  • Comfortable using Microsoft Office tools

Desirable Experience

  • Apprenticeship (Level 3 or equivalent) in Electrical, Mechanical or Electronic Engineering
  • Ideally 5-7+ years’ experience in a maintenance role post-apprenticeship
  • HNC/HND in Engineering
  • PLC/HMI fault finding or programming experience
  • IOSH Managing Safely
  • Background in aerospace or regulated manufacturing environments (e.g. AS9100)

Additional Information

  • Night shift role (UK-based)
  • Candidates must already have the right to work in the UK
  • No visa sponsorship or relocation support available

If you’re a hands-on maintenance engineer with experience supporting high precision machinery and looking to work with cutting-edge manufacturing technology in a highly regulated environment, this is a strong opportunity to step into a technically rewarding and stable role.
