Futures are looking to appoint a detail-oriented and proactive Quality Engineer to join our team. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys balancing quality assurance activities with hands-on product inspection. You will play a key role in ensuring our products meet customer expectations and industry standards by driving quality improvements, investigating issues, and supporting inspection activities throughout the manufacturing process.

This position is suited to an individual who is equally comfortable analyzing data, solving quality problems, and performing product inspections when required.

Quality Engineering

  • Develop, maintain, and improve quality management processes and procedures.
  • Investigate customer complaints, non-conformances, and internal quality issues using structured problem-solving tools (e.g., 8D, 5 Why, Fishbone).
  • Lead root cause analysis and implement effective corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
  • Monitor key quality metrics and identify trends to drive continuous improvement.
  • Support new product introduction activities, including process validation and quality planning.
  • Conduct internal audits and support external customer or certification audits.
  • Create and maintain quality documentation, inspection plans, work instructions, and control plans.
  • Collaborate with manufacturing, engineering, purchasing, and suppliers to resolve quality concerns.
  • Assist with supplier quality activities, including supplier performance monitoring and issue resolution.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant quality standards, customer specifications, and regulatory requirements.

Inspection Responsibilities

  • Perform first article, in-process, and final inspections as required.
  • Inspect components and finished products using a range of measuring equipment, including calipers, micrometers, height gauges, and other precision instruments.
  • Verify products against engineering drawings, specifications, and acceptance criteria.
  • Record inspection results accurately and maintain traceable quality records.
  • Identify and quarantine non-conforming material in accordance with company procedures.
  • Support incoming goods inspection during periods of increased workload or staff absence.
  • Work closely with production teams to ensure quality standards are maintained throughout manufacturing.

Required Qualifications & Experience

  • Experience in a Quality Engineer or Quality Assurance role within a manufacturing environment.
  • Practical experience carrying out dimensional and visual inspections.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications.
  • Strong understanding of quality tools and methodologies, including root cause analysis and continuous improvement.
  • Experience using precision measuring equipment.
  • Working knowledge of ISO 9001 or other relevant quality management systems.
