A long-established industrial and distribution-focused business is seeking an experienced Finance Director to join its senior leadership team ahead of a planned retirement transition.
Operating within a specialist technical market, the business has a strong reputation, established customer relationships and a stable operational platform. The incoming FD will work closely with the Managing Director and senior management team, playing a key role in commercial decision-making, operational performance and long-term business planning.
A structured handover period will be provided to ensure a smooth transition into the role and wider business.
Key Responsibilities- Lead all aspects of the finance function including statutory accounts, budgeting, forecasting and monthly management reporting.
- Provide commercial financial support across stock, margin and operational performance management.
- Support strategic decision-making through high-quality analysis, insight and reporting.
- Work closely with operational and commercial teams to improve efficiencies and business performance.
- Maintain robust financial controls, compliance procedures and risk management frameworks.
- Manage relationships with auditors, banking partners, insurers and external advisers.
- Contribute as a key member of the senior leadership team in shaping business strategy and direction.
The Finance Director will work closely with the Managing Director and senior leadership team, with responsibility for overseeing the wider finance and support functions.
Direct reports include finance personnel alongside broader support responsibilities across areas such as HR and IT.
Candidate Profile- Qualified accountant (ACA / ACCA / CIMA or equivalent).
- Minimum 5 years’ post-qualified experience within a senior finance leadership role.
- Experience within manufacturing, engineering, industrial distribution or a related sector would be advantageous.
- Strong commercial acumen with the ability to influence operational and strategic decisions.
- Proven leadership capability and experience partnering with senior stakeholders.
- Able to operate effectively within a commercially driven SME environment.
- Salary circa £80,000 - £95,000
- Annual bonus structure.
