Due to continued growth, they are seeking an experienced Operations Manager to join their leadership team in a newly created position. This role will play a pivotal part in strengthening internal operations, supporting organisational growth and ensuring teams, systems and processes continue to operate efficiently as the organisation expands.Whilst the role is fully remote, applicants should ideally be based within travelling distance of Sheffield as there will be occasional requirements to attend team meetings and collaborative sessions at the organisation's office.


The organisation offers flexibility around working arrangements, with both 40-hour and 32-hour (4-day) working patterns available.


The Role

This is a diverse and highly visible operational leadership opportunity that combines people management, organisational development, operational improvement, systems management and business support.
Working closely with senior leadership, you will lead key internal operational functions, helping to ensure the organisation has the processes, tools and infrastructure needed to support a growing workforce and expanding portfolio of projects.
The successful candidate will enjoy creating structure, improving ways of working and delivering practical solutions that enhance organisational effectiveness.

Key ResponsibilitiesOperations & Organisational Effectiveness

Lead the delivery of day-to-day operational activities across the organisation.

Review, develop and improve internal procedures to support sustainable growth.

  • Identify opportunities to streamline processes and improve efficiency.
  • Support the implementation of organisational improvement projects.
  • Drive consistency, accountability and best practice across operational activities.
  • Support leadership teams with the development of operational plans and priorities.

People & Workforce Operations

Manage and develop a small operational support team.

  • Oversee employee lifecycle activities, including recruitment coordination, onboarding and workforce administration.
  • Ensure operational support services are delivered effectively and to a high standard.
  • Monitor workload, performance and service delivery across operational functions.
  • Support workforce planning and organisational growth initiatives.
  • Act as a key point of contact for operational people-related issues and process queries.

Systems, Technology & Process Improvement

  • Take ownership of key business systems and workflow tools.
  • Ensure organisational systems are being used effectively and consistently.
  • Develop and maintain process documentation and operational guidance materials.
  • Support system improvements, enhancements and implementation projects.
  • Drive the adoption of efficient working practices and digital solutions.
  • Identify opportunities to automate manual processes and reduce administrative workload.

Performance Reporting & Business Insight

  • Coordinate organisational reporting and performance monitoring activities.
  • Produce regular management information, operational updates and performance dashboards.
  • Track organisational objectives and key measures of success.
  • Provide data-driven insights to support decision-making.
  • Work with managers across the organisation to improve reporting consistency and transparency.
  • Support compliance, governance and organisational assurance activities.
  • Maintain operational procedures, controls and internal policies.
  • Assist with audits, reviews and monitoring activities.
  • Help identify and manage operational risks.
  • Promote continuous improvement and robust governance across the organisation.

Essential Experience

  • Previous experience within an Operations Manager, Business Operations, Practice Manager or Organisational Development role.
  • Experience leading operational processes across a growing organisation.
  • Experience managing or mentoring staff.
  • Strong stakeholder and relationship management skills.

Desirable Experience

  • Experience within a charity, non-profit or social impact environment.
  • Experience supporting distributed or remote teams.
  • Exposure to HR administration, workforce operations or payroll processes.
  • Experience implementing new systems, platforms or operational tools.
  • Experience supporting organisational growth or change programmes.

Benefits

  • Salary of £43,000 - £53,000
  • Fully remote working - but with occasional attendance and main offce base as Sheffield
