Employment Lawyer - #2123395
CRA Consulting
Role: Employment Lawyer / Employment Fee Earner
Location: Sheffield - Free Parking
Salary: £35,000 - £50,000 DOE
Contract: Full-time, Permanent
Are you an Employment Lawyer looking for a role where you can get involved in genuinely interesting contentious work rather than spending your day dealing with the same advisory matters?
CRA Consulting are working with an established Sheffield legal practice with strong links to the trade union community. Due to continued growth and increasing volumes of work, they are looking to add an experienced Employment Lawyer or Employment Fee Earner to their team.
This is a particularly interesting opportunity for someone who enjoys the contentious side of employment law and wants exposure to a varied caseload, including Employment Tribunal work, within a supportive and growing department.
The employment team is experiencing continued growth, creating an opportunity for the right person to join at an exciting time for the department.
You'll benefit from:
- Salary of £35,000 - £50,000 depending on experience
- Strong pipeline of employment law work
- Predominantly contentious employment matters
- Regular exposure to Employment Tribunal work
- Opportunity to develop your litigation experience
- Established client base through strong trade union relationships
- 25 days' holiday plus bank holidays
- Regular salary reviews
- Enhanced sick pay
- Enhanced maternity pay
- Life insurance
- Pension scheme
- Subsidised canteen
- Regular social events
- Free onsite parking
You'll join an established employment law team handling a varied caseload with a particular emphasis on contentious matters.
Rather than having to generate your own work, you'll be joining a practice with established relationships and a regular flow of instructions.
Your role will include:
- Providing specialist employment law advice to clients
- Assessing and vetting new employment claims
- Conducting consultations with clients
- Advising on the merits and prospects of claims
- Reviewing contracts, witness evidence and other legal documentation
- Dealing with contentious employment matters from initial instruction onwards
- Preparing witness statements and other case documentation
- Preparing matters for Employment Tribunal proceedings
- Managing deadlines and progressing cases efficiently
- Considering evidence, legislation and opposing arguments
- Liaising with and briefing counsel where appropriate
- Supporting clients throughout what can often be difficult and sensitive employment disputes
There will also be the opportunity to gain exposure to some non-contentious employment law work, giving you a broader and more rounded role.
We're keen to hear from Employment Solicitors, Chartered Legal Executives and experienced Employment Fee Earners.
You should ideally have previous experience handling employment law matters and be comfortable dealing directly with clients and progressing your own cases.
Experience of Employment Tribunal work would be particularly useful, although the firm is happy to consider candidates at different stages of their career.
Most importantly, they're looking for someone who genuinely enjoys employment law, has strong client-care skills and wants to develop within a busy and growing team.
Our client is an established multi-service legal practice with particularly strong links to the trade union community.
The firm has developed an established client base and provides specialist legal advice across a number of areas. Its employment department continues to see significant demand for its services, which is driving the need to grow the existing team.
For an Employment Lawyer, this means joining a business where there is a genuine pipeline of work and an opportunity to concentrate on developing your technical and litigation skills.
Alongside a salary of £35,000 - £50,000 depending on experience, the firm offers a strong overall benefits package including:
- 25 days' annual leave plus bank holidays
- Regular salary reviews and increases
- Pension scheme
- Life insurance
- Enhanced company sick pay
- Enhanced maternity pay
- Subsidised canteen
- Regular company social events
- Free parking
The employment law market continues to offer plenty of opportunities, but not every role gives you the chance to handle interesting contentious work within a team that already has a strong flow of instructions.
