Hays Education is working with schools across Sheffield that support pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. We are looking for caring, resilient, and dedicated SEMH Teaching Assistants to join our team and help young people overcome barriers to learning.

The Role:
As an SEMH Teaching Assistant, you'll play a key role in helping pupils build confidence, develop positive relationships, and achieve their potential.
Your responsibilities will include:
Providing 1:1 and small group support to students with SEMH needs
Supporting pupils both academically and emotionally
Helping to create a positive, inclusive, and nurturing learning environment
Managing behaviour positively and consistently
Building strong relationships that encourage engagement and progress
Working closely with teachers and pastoral teams to support student development
What We're Looking For
We're keen to speak with individuals who are:
Experienced in working with children or young people with SEMH, SEND, behavioural, or additional needs
OR
Experienced within healthcare, residential care, support work, youth work, mental health services, or similar environments
You'll also be:
Patient, empathetic, and resilient
A strong communicator with excellent interpersonal skills
Calm and confident in challenging situations
Committed to helping young people succeed
SEMH or SEND-related qualifications are desirable but not essential
