Senior Software Developer - .Net / C# - 100% Remote

Are you the kind of developer who sees something that's not quite right and just…owns it, rather than waiting to be told to fix it?

(This isn't a role for someone who wants tickets pointed at them and to be left alone. The team already has plenty of people who can execute - what's missing is someone who steps back, sees the bigger picture, and makes the call)

We're working with an established public sector-facing transport technology business, fully remote, with a small, close-knit engineering team building consumer-facing apps (built on .NET MAUI, so a single C#/.NET codebase across platforms) backed by a .NET Core API. The business is growing - new regional contracts are coming online that will substantially increase revenue over the next few years - but it's stayed a genuinely low-pressure, low-turnover place to work. People who join tend to still be there years later.

What you'll be doing:

  • Taking real ownership of features across the app and API - not just building to spec, but deciding what "right" looks like and pushing back when something isn't

  • Picking up pieces of work and seeing them through to completion without needing to be pointed in the right direction at every step

  • Stepping back from the code to look at the holistic picture - is this UI pattern actually good, is this the right way to solve the problem, not just "does it technically work"

  • Working alongside 4-5 other developers of mixed experience, helping steer decisions rather than just adding to the pile of individually-reasonable-but-inconsistent choices

  • Working across a MAUI-based app and its .NET Core / C# API - genuine full-stack ownership within the .NET ecosystem

What they're looking for:

  • Strong, proven C#/.NET development experience - this is the core skill the role is built around, not a secondary strength

  • A genuine ownership mentality - comfortable making the call and living with it, rather than waiting to be told

  • Enough experience to see the bigger picture across a codebase or feature, not just execute the ticket in front of you

  • Someone who's past chasing the next big salary bump or the next big title - this is a steady, long-term role for someone who knows what matters to them (good work-life balance, 100% remote, flexibility, no overtime or weekend work)

Advantageous, not essential:

  • Experience with .NET MAUI, Xamarin, or another cross-platform C#/.NET mobile framework

  • Comfortable with SQL Server (though there's already dedicated support for this, so it's not a core requirement)

  • Experience working in a small team where you're one of a handful of developers, not one of fifty

The kind of person who'll do well here:

  • You'd rather have a stable, sustainable working life than chase pace or cutting-edge tech for its own sake - this team finishes at 5.00pm, and means it

  • You're happy being trusted to own things without needing a bigger title to justify it

  • You care enough about the detail - a clunky bit of UI, a pattern being copied without being questioned - to fix it even when nobody's asked

  • You want to still be here in years, not months - this business is known for keeping people, and they're looking for someone who wants that too

Why this is worth a look:

This is a genuinely stable, well-funded business - revenue is set to rise significantly over the next few years as new contracts land - that has never had a problem keeping hold of good people. It's fully remote, properly low-pressure, and offers the kind of ownership that's usually reserved for a "lead" title, without the politics that title normally comes with.

If you want to be the person who decides what "right" looks like, rather than just building to someone else's decision, this is worth a conversation.
